Bobbin furniture, with its origins tracing back to the late 17th century, stands as a testament to enduring craftsmanship. Emerging from the US, UK, and the Netherlands, this style is defined by its spool-like details—legs and accents turned on a lathe to mimic the delicate form of a bobbin.
Though its design is steeped in tradition, bobbin furniture seamlessly bridges the gap between classic and contemporary interiors, bringing historical charm into modern spaces. While bobbin chairs may not be ideal for long hours of seating, their sculptural elegance makes them captivating decorative pieces in any room.
Sourcing with Purpose
Each bobbin in our collection is sourced across the Netherlands with care and intention, from quaint thrift shops to vibrant markets and prestigious antique fairs. We evaluate every piece meticulously, focusing on the quality of the wooden frame and the intricacy of its woven seat.
The profile of each bobbin is also closely examined; subtle differences in their contours can enhance their aesthetic appeal and structural integrity. This rigorous process ensures that every stool, bench, and armchair in our collection reflects the finest traditional craftsmanship while meeting modern standards of durability and style.

A Palette of Timeless Colours
After selecting one of our five carefully curated colours, each bobbin undergoes a preparation process rooted in precision. Hand-sanding preserves the frame's distinctive roundness—a delicate touch that machine sanding could compromise. This step is followed by priming and two coats of high-lacquer paint, chosen for its durability and rich finish.
The result is a piece of furniture that not only captivates visually but is built to last, becoming a cherished addition to your home for years to come.
