An antique French faux bamboo mirror with its original glass. The turned wood frame, carved to mimic bamboo joints, is characteristic of the late 19th century, a period when this style was widely popular in French domestic interiors.

The wood shows scattered woodworm holes, evidence of its age and history. These have been treated and are no longer active. Combined with a deep, warm patina, they give the frame wonderful character.

The original glass has aged beautifully but significantly. It's heavily foxed and bobbled with age, and no longer suited for practical use as a mirror. Instead, we love this piece as a purely decorative one: hang it as a striking object in its own right, full of history and story.
